Böösgården
Bland områdets mest framträdande byggnader märks Böösgårdens hus som fått sina namn efter det “fina folk” som en gång bodde här och satte sin prägel på platsen.
På Böösgränd 2 låg bostaden för smidesmästare Böös. Innan dess bodde myntgravören Karl Norman, en yrkesman med hög status i brukssamhället. Själva byggnaden berättar också något om sin tid: den ena fasaden är målad i gult, en färg som då betraktades som särskilt högståndsmässig och förknippad med välstånd. Den andra sidan är rödmålad, anpassad efter väder och vind och mer i linje med traditionell byggnadssed.
Färgvalen, liksom namnen, speglar tydligt de sociala skiktningar som en gång fanns här där husen inte bara var bostäder, utan också markörer för position, yrke och anseende.
The Böös Residence – In English
Among the area’s most prominent buildings are those of Böösgården, which were named after the “distinguished people” who once lived here and left their mark on the area.
At Böösgränd 2 stood the home of Böös, a master smith. Before him, it was home to Karl Norman, a coin engraver and a craftsman of high status in the industrial community. The building itself also reveals something about its time. One façade is painted yellow, a colour then regarded as particularly refined and associated with wealth. The other side is painted red, better suited to exposure to the weather and more in keeping with traditional building practices.
The choice of colours, like the names, clearly reflects the social divisions that once existed here, when houses were not merely homes, but also symbols of status, profession and reputation.
